Geriatric (final stages of life)
Keep Them Comfortable: Create a cozy corner in your house for them to rest, near where you or your family gather daily and nightly. Pull out your favorite pictures of you all, light candles and keep the mood very relaxing and stress-free.
Life Review: By far the most important step in this step. Communicate what I call a Life Review with your pet. Talk them through what you learned being their mommy or daddy, how they have influenced you to be a better person. Share events and memories from when they were a puppy throughout each stafe of life to today.I promise you they are listening to all of it.
At Home Care and Final Arrangements: Don't wait till the last minute to research your options for end of life care. I did, since the news of my pet getting sick was a surprise. While it may be uncomfortable for you it is important. Check out companies like Lap of Love who offer supportive services like Hospice care or at home euthanasia. Being prepared will only make it more of a peacful transition for you. I am here and thinking of you if you are currently in this stafe of your pet's life. Xoxo
Prepare Your Mind: The most heart wrenching stage when you know your pet is nearing the end of life. I lived through it and can confirm it is not easy, not one bit. I promise time does heal, but you have to be strong and prepared for when the time comes. Following the below tips will help you when you have to make tough decisions.
